So, today is Thursday, the first day of fall, which is exciting for me because my birthday is in 2 days (woot woot)! But, I post on Wednesdays. So, what gives? Why am I coming at ya on a Thursday?

Well, I have been doing a cleanse (no need for details), and Monday and Tuesday I felt sick like a dog. Unfortunately, Mondays and Tuesdays are my days to write my blog post, work on my header, find an image, and set up for publish. Yeah, all I did those two days was sleep and pray my cravings would go away.

Good news! By Wednesday my cravings were gone and my energy has been through the roof. But, I knew my blog post wasn’t going out. So I spent yesterday working on it like crazy, including setting up a PDF for you guys.

Whaaaaaat????

Oh yeah, I’ve got a free guide to help you get set in creating a writing space that is inviting and makes you wanna spend hours writing in. How do you get it? Simple: just input your email address below, and you’ll get access ASAP. I will get a bit more into what this guide will help you with.

So, how you create an awesome writing space?

Before we get into writing, I want to make sure your space is set up to write. I don’t think it’ll be super awesome to crank out 500 words when there are piles of clothes on the floor, an odd smell coming from God knows what, and boring, drab walls with boring paint colors.

You need a sanctuary of sorts. Think of creating a mini-retreat area. Writing is a great way to escape from the craziness of life, as I mentioned a couple weeks ago. So, make your room a place to relax and get away. Got a small apartment? Find a small area you can carve out, even if it’s your bedroom corner.

If you need some inspiration, take the time to look at Pinterest. You will get sucked in for hours, but hey, it takes time to create an awesome space! Take as long as you need! From adding curtains or doing a DIY project, play around with your space until it’s comfortable for you.

Now it’s time to set your mind up to write.

You’ve got a kick-ass space to write, but look, if you’re having a bad day, you’re not going to go straight into your room and write. You could go in there, but you’d just lay down and think about the crazy day you had. I think the best way to approach writing is to be calm and relaxed.

So, if you’re in your room, take time to calm your senses and take deep breaths. Or meditate for a few minutes. I recommend using an app such as Headspace to take 10 minutes to be calm. You get 10 days for free, so why not jump on that!

I have many other techniques you can do in the guide. Just sign up below.

You’re ready! What’s Next?

If you’re chill and your writing space is set up, then go ahead and write your little heart out! And, to stay focused on your writing, look at some software such as Scrivener, a music app like Focus@Will, or just use a blank text file so you’re not editing yourself when writing.

Next week, I’ll give you 10 ways to not get stuck when you’re writing. I’m talking crazy ways, not just writing prompts. These will be fun!

I hope you enjoyed this! If you did, share it with your friends!

Until next time, cheers!
